Smart Bricks is building the intelligence layer for real estate. Every year, trillions of dollars are invested across residential, commercial and alternative real estate using fragmented systems, disconnected data and manual workflows. We're building an AI-native platform that enables investors, developers, lenders, governments and Fortune 500 companies to source opportunities, underwrite investments, perform due diligence and manage portfolios using AI.
Alongside our software platform, we're building an Applied AI Lab that works directly with some of the world's largest real estate organisations to redesign complex institutional workflows using AI. Every customer engagement generates institutional knowledge. Every deployment strengthens the platform. Every improvement compounds across every future customer.
We've raised over $5 million, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and are backed by some of the world's leading technology ecosystems, including Techstars, Google, NVIDIA and Microsoft through their AI and startup programmes.
We're now building our founding leadership team in London. Our London team is based at Balderton Capital, one of Europe's leading venture capital firms, putting us alongside some of Europe's most ambitious founders, investors and technology companies.
We're looking for an exceptional Head of Product to define what Smart Bricks becomes and build the product organisation behind it.
Why Exceptional Product Leaders Join Us
- $5M+ raised, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)
- Backed by Google, NVIDIA, Microsoft and Techstars
- Building our core team in London at Balderton Capital
- Building AI-native products for complex, high-value institutional workflows
- Opportunity to rethink how one of the world's largest industries works
- Build the Product organisation from the ground up
The Role
This isn't a traditional Head of Product role. You're not joining to inherit a roadmap, optimise an established product or manage a team of PMs. You're joining to define what gets built.
As Head of Product, you'll own the product vision, strategy and quality of Smart Bricks' institutional platform. You'll work directly with the Founder & CEO, Head of Engineering and Head of Applied AI to invent entirely new ways for investors, developers, lenders and governments to work with AI.
You'll spend time inside real investment workflows, understand how decisions actually get made, prototype radically better ways of working and turn what we learn from enterprise customers into scalable products. The question you'll constantly ask is: If AI existed first, how would this workflow work? Not: how do we add AI to the software that already exists?
What You'll Own
- Define the Product Vision
- Partner directly with the Founder to define the long-term product vision for Smart Bricks.
- You'll own:
- Product strategy
- Platform strategy
- Product architecture
- Roadmap and prioritisation
- Customer discovery
- Product quality
- AI experience
- Product-market fit
Your job is to ensure Smart Bricks becomes one coherent AI-native platform, not a collection of disconnected features. You'll make difficult decisions about what we build, what we don't build and where we believe AI fundamentally changes the way the industry works.
Invent AI-Native Products
We're not interested in putting chat interfaces on traditional enterprise software. We want to rethink the underlying workflows. You'll design products where humans and AI agents work together naturally across areas such as:
- Investment sourcing
- Conversational underwriting
- Due diligence
- Investment committee workflows
- Financial modelling
- Market intelligence
- Portfolio intelligence
- Asset management
- Capital allocation
- Multi-agent investment workflows
Some of these products don't have an existing category. You'll help invent them.
Turn Applied AI Into Product
Our Applied AI Lab works directly with customers on some of their hardest problems. The Lab learns. Product compounds those learnings. Working closely with the Head of Applied AI, you'll identify patterns across enterprise deployments and continuously ask:
- What repeated?
- What surprised us?
- What created the most value?
- What should become product?
- What should remain bespoke?
- What can we make reusable for every future customer?
Your job is to build the system that turns customer-specific innovation into scalable platform capabilities. Over time, each deployment should make the product stronger and the next deployment faster.
Live With the Customer
The best product ideas won't come from a conference room. You'll spend real time with investment teams, developers, lenders, asset managers and institutional investors understanding how they actually work. You'll shadow analysts. You'll sit inside underwriting processes. You'll map how investment decisions get made. You'll understand where teams lose time, where information gets trapped and where judgement matters. Then you'll ask how AI changes the workflow entirely.
We expect our Head of Product to become one of the people in the company who understands our customers best.
Partner Deeply With Engineering
Product and Engineering operate as one system. You'll work daily with the Head of Engineering and founding engineers to make hard trade-offs, understand technical constraints and turn ambitious product ideas into simple, scalable systems. You'll need enough technical depth to reason meaningfully about:
- Agentic systems
- Model behaviour
- Retrieval and knowledge systems
- Evaluations
- Human-in-the-loop workflows
- Data architecture
- APIs and integrations
- Build-vs-buy decisions
- Reliability and failure modes
You don't need to be the best engineer in the room. But you should be able to have a substantive technical conversation with them.
Prototype Constantly
At Smart Bricks, product thinking happens through building. You'll prototype ideas before turning them into six-month roadmaps. You'll experiment with new interactions, build working concepts, put them in front of customers and learn quickly. Being hands-on with tools such as Figma, Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable and v0 is a significant advantage.
We want someone who can go from:
- customer problem → hypothesis → prototype → customer feedback
in days, not months.
Build the Product Organisation
You'll build the Product function from the ground up. Over time, you'll recruit and lead an exceptional team across:
- Product Management
- Product Design
- AI Experience
- User Research
- Product Operations
You'll define how Product operates, how we make decisions and what exceptional product quality means at Smart Bricks. Your goal is to create a product organisation capable of building category-defining AI products for decades.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12 months, you'll have:
- Defined the long-term product vision and strategy for our institutional platform
- Designed the core AI-native workflows powering the next generation of institutional real estate investing
- Launched multiple AI products into production with enterprise customers
- Established a repeatable system for converting customer deployments into scalable platform capabilities
- Created a clear product architecture and roadmap across the platform
- Established an exceptional standard for product quality and AI experience
- Built the foundations of the Smart Bricks Product organisation
- Become the voice of the customer across the leadership team
- Become a trusted product counterpart to the Founder, Head of Engineering and Head of Applied AI
Success won't be measured by the number of features shipped. It will be measured by how much smarter, more useful and more scalable the platform becomes with every release.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a builder with exceptional product judgement, not someone who has spent their career managing product processes. You've repeatedly taken ambiguous problems and turned them into products customers love. You've gone from zero to one. You've worked directly with engineers and customers. You've made difficult product decisions with incomplete information. And you've developed strong instincts about what matters and what doesn't.
You'll likely have:
- 7–12 years building enterprise software, AI products, workflow platforms or similarly complex products
- Led Product through a period of rapid growth at an exceptional startup or scaleup
- Experience as an early, founding or senior product leader with genuine end-to-end ownership
- Shipped multiple products from zero to one that real users or enterprise customers rely on
- Exceptional product judgement and an instinct for simplifying complex systems
- Strong technical fluency across AI-native systems and modern software architecture
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers and translating messy real-world workflows into elegant products
- Strong design instincts and an unusually high bar for product quality
- Experience prototyping and testing ideas rapidly rather than relying solely on specifications and roadmaps
- The ability to move comfortably between strategy and execution
You're equally comfortable sitting with an investment team, defining product strategy with the Founder, sketching a workflow, building a prototype, challenging an engineer and making a difficult prioritisation decision. Experience in real estate isn't required. We care far more about exceptional product builders who are excited about applying AI to one of the world's largest and least digitised industries.
