Construction Manager / Superintendent Location: Royston, Hertfordshire Duration: 12-18 Months Contract Type: Contract Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Superintendent to support the successful delivery of construction and punch-list activities on a major industrial project in Royston. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and stakeholders, ensuring safe execution of works, maintaining quality standards, and driving project completion in line with programme requirements. Previous experience within industrial, process, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, energy, or similar environments is highly desirable. Experience with plastic piping systems and/or GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) pipework would be a distinct advantage, although it is not essential. Key Responsibilities Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities. Coordinate and interface with project management, engineering, QA/QC, subcontractors, and client representatives. Ensure work is carried out safely and in compliance with site procedures and statutory regulations. Drive construction progress and monitor performance against project schedules. Lead punch-list, snagging, and project close-out activities. Identify and resolve construction issues, technical queries, and site conflicts. Maintain effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders. Oversee the procurement, delivery, and coordination of materials, equipment, and resources. Ensure construction activities meet required quality standards and client expectations. Produce regular progress updates and reports. Support commissioning and handover activities where required. Promote a strong safety-first culture across the project team. Required Experience Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Superintendent, Site Manager, or similar construction leadership role. Strong background within industrial construction environments. Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary work fronts. Knowledge of construction methodologies, quality requirements, and health & safety legislation. Demonstrated ability to deliver work to programme and budget. Experience managing construction interfaces and resolving site-based issues. Strong planning, organisational, and coordination skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Desirable Experience Experience on chemical, petrochemical, refinery, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, energy, or process plant projects. Previous involvement in mechanical installation projects. Knowledge of plastic pipework systems. Experience with GRP/FRP piping installation and inspection. Exposure to commissioning, mechanical completion, and handover phases. Qualifications Degree, HNC, HND, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant site safety qualifications (SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent). CSCS Card (or equivalent project requirements). Valid right to work in the UK
