We are recruiting for a Delivery Lead to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on a major civil engineering section of HS2. This is a pivotal role within a high-performing project team shaping the future of national transport infrastructure.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Director, you will take responsibility for a significant portion of a large-scale infrastructure programme. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and work closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination across procurement, design, construction, and assurance functions. You will play a pivotal role in delivering works safely, on time, and within budget, while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture across all delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement delivery strategy in line with overall programme objectives
- Lead and manage large, multidisciplinary teams, including Senior Project Managers and functional leads
- Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of works in accordance with programme schedules
- Oversee coordination between design, procurement, construction, and assurance teams
- Take full accountability for project budgets, forecasts, and timelines
- Drive continuous improvement across quality, safety, cost, and programme performance
- Manage client relationships and act as the key point of escalation
- Oversee procurement activities, including review and approval of scopes prior to tender
- Lead reporting to senior stakeholders, including progress, risks, and financial performance
- Lead investigations into safety and quality issues, implementing lessons learned and preventative measures
- Foster collaboration across stakeholders, supply chain partners, and internal teams
About You
- Proven leadership experience managing teams of 30+ in complex project environments
- Strong background in infrastructure or major construction programmes
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets and NEC contracts
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and delivery frameworks
- Experience across planning, procurement, commercial management, and contract administration
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present at Director and Board level
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Extensive knowledge of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience working in multidisciplinary environments
