Quality Inspector with an extensive knowledge of and background in the automotive industry, required to join a well-established leading Manufacturer and Provider of Sheet Metal Engineering Services. As Quality Inspector, the successful candidate would be responsible for ensuring that product quality fully meets customer and company requirements; ensuring customer and company quality requirements are maintained throughout production life and maintaining effective communication throughout the business to ensure a robust QMS is implemented and maintained.
The role of Quality Inspector requires knowledge of Polyworks Software, use of Faro Arm or Hexagon Romer Arm and excellent understanding of ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, APQP and PPAP. Offered as a Permanent contract, the position of Quality Inspector provides competitive salary range (based on experience), long term prospects and an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, progressive organisation.
Quality Inspector responsibilities:
- Contribute towards setting Quality and Environmental Standards to ISO 14001, ISO9001 and IATF16949
- Identify 5S concerns and liaise with the relevant team
- Conduct drawing and specification review as part of feasibility studies
- Lead, or provide active input into, PFMEA meetings and subsequent reviews
- Evaluate dimensional and visual assessment of components & raw material, identifying errors and implementing necessary corrective action
- Assist the Inspection Instructions based on the Control Plan/Gauge Plan/FMEA and gain concurrence from specified areas
- Conduct pre-production audits on samples prior to despatch to customer, ensuring meeting of specified requirements
- Assist with preliminary process studies, confirm control limits with Production Engineers, and agree actions to correct any non-stable / non capable processes
- Monitor process capability during production and agree actions to correct non stable/non capable processes
- Arrange inspection of customer returns, provide reports on causes of rejection and corrective action
- Lead root cause analysis and assist with the resolution of quality concerns
- Lead improvement activities within the company
- Visit/liaise with customers and suppliers as required
- Conduct Internal Audits covering both Quality and Environmental Standards
Successful candidate for the role of Quality Inspector must possess:
- Practical engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Previous experience as Quality Inspector
- Use of Polyworks software and experience of Faro and/or Hexagon Romer Arm
- Excellent understanding of ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, APQP and PPAP
- Attention to detail and proficient communication – written and verbal
- Determination to ensure quality standards are met and customer satisfaction is ensured
Location: Kings Norton, West Midlands
Hours of Work: Mon to Thurs 7am to 4pm, Fri 7am to 1pm
Salary: £30,000 p.a. to £35,000 p.a. (dependent upon experience)
