As a Front-End Engineer within our Engineering org, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the user-facing applications and interfaces that power Smarkets' products. You will collaborate closely with engineering managers, technical leadership, product managers, and designers to deliver intuitive, high-performing web and mobile experiences aligned with the Smarkets product roadmap. Our web apps are built with Next.js & React, and our mobile apps with React Native, all in TypeScript. We manage state with Redux and React Query, stream real-time trading data over WebSockets, and consume REST APIs across our services. Design, implement and maintain complex features and interfaces across web and mobile (iOS & Android), built with React, React Native and TypeScript Work closely with Product, Design and other engineering teams to scope and lead business goal-aligned projects Implement monitoring and error tracking to ensure the stability and performance of our user-facing applications Help reinforce the standard for code quality, by writing tests and reviewing merge requests 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on front-end development ~ Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React ~ Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including GitLab and Kubernetes ~ Experience profiling front-end performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks ~ Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English ~ Proficiency with AI-driven development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation js and React Native Experience with state management tools such as Redux or React Query Experience writing and maintaining end-to-end tests (Maestro, Playwright) A user-centric mindset and a genuine interest in UX They reflect what we expect of ourselves and each other to deliver the best results, while fostering a positive, high-performing environment: Bring the Energy: We bring positivity, curiosity, and enthusiasm to everything we do, inspiring those around us.
