About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of a small team of four. To thrive at Smarkets, you will need to be open-minded, personable, and have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to analyse and communicate insights from data.
What you will do:
- Prepare and process AP invoices
- Review and reconcile bank statements on a regular basis to ensure accuracy
- Perform AP balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Review and manage open Purchase Orders
- Ensure all supplier accounts are reconciled against supplier statements
- Schedule and process payments per company policy
- Manage vendor payment queries
- Process staff expenses and approvals
- Monitor daily cash flows, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operations
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to regulated gaming authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Support monthly Management Accounts and journal entries
- Assist with financial audits
Role Requirements:
- Proficiency in Excel
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- A strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A methodical and focused approach to working in a fluid and flexible work environment
- Good communication skills
- 1+ years of public practice experience
- Experience with Light Inc. accounting software is desirable
- Experience with working with auditors - desirable but not essential
- Part-qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - desirable but not essential
- Degree in Accounting or related business field - desirable but not essential
- Have worked or are curious to work in an agile, start-up like environment
- Have experience or are keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team/across different teams
