The apprenticeship offers a great start to begin a career in finance. You will join the divisional finance team of a UK‑listed company, supporting colleagues in the UK, Germany, Italy, Singapore and the wider Group. This role provides hands‑on experience in core accounting activities, exposure to international finance operations and opportunities to support process improvements, all alongside studying towards your Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

Work Location: Bury St Edmunds/Hybrid – 3 days a week after initial training period in the office at Bury St. Edmunds.

Your Day-to-day Might Include:

  • Successfully complete AAT qualification.
  • Assist with the month‑end close activities including preparation of journals and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist the submission of monthly, half‑yearly and annual reporting to Group head office.
  • Liaise with UK and overseas colleagues for inter‑company reporting and reconciliations, including freight recharges.
  • Manage Fixed and Leased Assets accounting and processes.
  • Support in preparation of detailed forecasts and budgets throughout the year, including preparation of an accurate 13‑week cash forecast on a weekly basis.
  • Assist with management of foreign currency balances across the division.
  • Support team with submission of VAT, Intrastat and EC sales on a monthly basis.
  • Gather information for external auditors.
  • Any other ad‑hoc tasks as required by the team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Problem‑solving mindset with an interest in improving processes.

Essential Education and Qualifications:

  • Desire to gain AAT qualification.
  • 6 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English (grade 4/C or above).
  • A‑levels or equivalent (Business, Accounting, Maths or Economics are beneficial but not essential).

Desirable:

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., from school, college, or online courses).
  • Any practical work experience in an office, bank, retail, or customer service environment.
  • Spanish, German, French or Italian language skills.
