Help us raise vital funds to transform the lives of young children with physical disabilities and their families

Small Steps has been on a remarkable journey.

Nearly three decades ago, we started in a small classroom supporting three physically disabled children.

We now welcome more than 100 children and their families every week to benefit from our unique, free and holistic service at our centre in Richmond, Surrey.

With our expert-led sessions rooted in conductive education, we have helped nearly 1,000 disabled children over the years by equipping them with the skills and tools they need to thrive.

And we have raised over £10 million to make this happen.

Small Steps is looking for an experienced, creative fundraiser to play a key role in the next stage of our growth.

Following the launch of our four-year strategy, we want to expand our reach, and we need an ambitious fundraiser who can help make that possible.

Working within a small, collaborative team, you’ll take the lead on trusts and foundations fundraising, while also supporting our work with corporate partners and major donors.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape our approach as well as deliver it, strengthening existing fundraising activity, identifying new opportunities and developing persuasive applications and proposals.

We’re looking for someone with a strong track record of securing income from grant funders, corporates or major donors.

You’ll be an excellent communicator who can tell compelling stories, build strong relationships and turn opportunities into income.

You’ll also bring creativity, initiative, attention to detail and a genuine connection with the mission and values of Small Steps.

Experience in the children’s, disability or family services sector would be welcome, as would familiarity with CRM systems or a local connection to Richmond, but these are desirable rather than essential.

This is a permanent, full-time, year-round role with eight weeks’ annual leave including bank holidays.

Flexible and/or part-time arrangements can also be considered.

Applications are being considered on a rolling basis.
