At Smailes Goldie, we are proud to be one of the region’s leading independent accountancy firms, and we’re looking for a Tax Assistant to support the compliance services we offer to a range of individual clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing tax returns for various clients, including income tax, capital gains tax calculations and rental and self-employed accounts.
  • Undertaking and completing work assigned to you by senior staff, in line with agreed timescales, budgets and compliance with the applicable regulatory framework.
  • Preparing draft correspondence to client queries.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing excellent service and upholding the Firm’s reputation.
  • Proactively managing workload, workflow and prioritising tasks effectively to safeguard the firm and clients’ deadlines are met.

Qualifications & Experience:

We are looking for applicants who are ATT qualified or part-qualified, with a fundamental understanding of UK tax compliance and familiarity with Tax preparation software.

Most importantly, we are looking for a hardworking individual who can work under pressure with strong communication skills.
