As a Food Warehouse Management Adviser and Consultant, the candidate will lead high-value projects to optimise a large number of clients within the supply chain. The candidate will focus heavily on food safety compliance, automated inventory control, and temperature-controlled storage layouts. The job will focus directly on reducing food waste, accelerating fulfilment times, and lowering operational overheads.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Facility Layout Design: Re-organise food warehouse floor plans to maximise storage density, segregation, and picking efficiency.
- Cold-Chain Auditing: Review and upgrade temperature monitoring systems, ensuring zero-break compliance across multi-temperature zones.
- WMS Optimization: Evaluate, select, and deploy suitable Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Compliance Frameworks: Align operational workflows with strict food safety standards, including BRCGS, HACCP, and local food hygiene regulations.
- Waste & Shrinkage Reduction: Analyze inventory turnover data to minimise food spoilage, expiration risks, and stock discrepancies.
- Labour Management: Look into the labour standards and productivity frameworks to optimise the warehouse workforce scheduling.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Experience in consulting, specifically focused on food, beverage, or perishable logistics, would be a bonus skill although not a requisite.
- Technical Mastery: Deep operational familiarity with multi-zone temperature storage (ambient, chilled, frozen) and WMS software would add extra value; further training will be arranged.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of UK food safety regulations, traceability tracking, and cold-chain compliance would add value although further training will be arranged.
- Analytical Skills: Expert capability in inventory data analysis, slotting optimization, and supply chain forecasting.
