We are looking for an experienced Junior Installer to join our AV department. You will be a key member of the SMC team and help to deliver cutting edge integrated home technology in some of the most prestigious homes in London, and further afield. As part of SMC, you will work alongside supportive and friendly colleagues including project managers, programmers, network engineers and security engineers.
You will need previous integrator experience and be confident in terminating AV/network cabling and connectors, reading and updating drawings, rack building and panel wiring. Any knowledge of other integration systems and or products such as Crestron, Lutron, KNX, 2N would be advantageous but is not essential.
RESPONSIBILITIESYou will be responsible for the second fixing, installing and commissioning of AV systems in a variety of small, medium and large high-end residential properties. You will report to our Engineering Managers who will provide guidance and support where needed, throughout each stage of a project. As an Installer you will be required to:
- Terminate AV cabling including: CAT5/6/7, speaker, Fibre, Lutron/Control, Coaxial etc.
- Understand and work to project drawings, schematics and spreadsheets.
- Work within a team to coordinate and deliver projects to SMC standard.
- Install and commission devices such as CCTV cameras, speakers, screens etc.
- Communicate clearly with project managers and other engineers to ensure good practice and efficiency across projects.
- Work with our Aftercare Department providing support for our existing installations.
The candidate should ideally have:
- 2+ years relevant experience within the industry
- Ability to terminate cable connectors through crimping and soldering
- A high level of experience working with hand tools and in a site environment
- A wide knowledge of general AV product range
- Experience integrating with third-party residential systems
- Experience working on their own and as part of a larger team
- A methodical and logical approach to engineering and troubleshooting
- The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- The ability to interpret schematics and spreadsheets
- Be comfortable interacting with other trades on site and with clients
- Be prepared to work away and abroad from time to time. Further remuneration will be provided for this.
Advantageous but not essential:
- Knowledge of integration systems such as 2N, KNX, Crestron, Lutron, Genetec, Texecom
- Lutron Programming
- Full and clean UK driving licence
- Basic electronics knowledge
