Since 1935 SLX Group has been stocking and supplying marine and industrial components and providing engineering services to the marine and power generation markets. Job brief
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the overall financial management, business analysis and reporting of the business, ensuring ongoing viability and a secure financial future. You will be responsible for the continued modernisation of the current accounts department, whilst providing financial advice and information to the leadership team to develop and maintain financial and investment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the full month end closing process including complete preparation of monthly consolidated financial results
- Integration of the newly acquired business into the group finance function
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts for the whole business
- Control of the sales ledger, purchase ledger, general ledger, stock, bank and cash for the business
- Suggest updates and improvements for Business Central ERP system and continually look for improvements in processes and procedures and use of time saving technology wherever possible
- Cash flow forecasting
- Manage customer and supplier account queries
- Completion of the VAT Return, UK, Germany and Singapore
- Liaison with auditors, tax advisers, bank and HMRC
- Managing payroll
- Ensure all intercompany items are correctly accounted for and that all accounts reconcile each month
- Supporting with the accounts of the overseas subsidiaries
- Manage the credit cards (employees’; customer purchases; the online shop)
- Managing employee expenses and petty cash
- Management of accounts department
Candidate
- Hands-on accountant with an affiliation for SME environments
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience
- In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Any international exposure (i.e. exposure to international currencies / EC Sales, etc.) would be a benefit
- Demonstrating ambition with the potential to grow to an FD role
