We’re looking for an Electrical & Electronics Engineer to join our Product Development team in Royston, where innovation meets real‑world impact. In this role, you’ll design and develop the electrical systems and PCB assemblies that power next‑generation machines, influencing products used globally across science and industry.

You’ll be joining a close‑knit team of engineers, working collaboratively on cutting‑edge technologies and complex mechatronic systems. If you enjoy taking ownership of designs from concept through to commissioning and seeing your work come to life on the factory floor, this is the role for you. This is a full‑time, site‑based position in Royston.

Your Role – What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the design, development, testing and validation of electrical and electronic systems that deliver machine control functionality for new and existing products.
  • Design and support electronics PCB assemblies, ensuring robust performance in industrial environments.
  • Create, maintain and manage Bills of Materials, ensuring all electrical and electronic components meet standards.
  • Drive and contribute to design reviews, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to define interfaces, specifications and protocols.
  • Produce and maintain machinery electrical safety documentation, ensuring compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Oversee the development testing, commissioning and validation of machinery safety circuits.

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or an HND with significant commercial or industrial experience.
  • Proven experience designing AC and DC power distribution systems compliant with UK/EU Low Voltage Directive and US standards (e.g. NFPA 70).
  • Strong knowledge of EMC‑compliant electrical and electronic design for both light and heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience writing, implementing and managing electrical and machinery safety tests.
  • Hands‑on design experience with analogue and digital electronics, including small‑signal handling and processing.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication interfaces such as RS232, RS485, USB and Ethernet.
  • Experience working in cross‑functional engineering teams on complex, high‑value mechatronic equipment.
