SLR Recruitment are delighted to be working with a local shipping client who are looking for an Operations Planner to join their team based in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a busy operations team, playing a key role in the efficient planning of vessel and terminal operations while coordinating the terminal's operational workforce.

Role Details:

  • Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 DOE
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Rotation: 3-week rota: 2 weeks Monday-Friday, followed by 1 week Wednesday-Sunday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate vessel and terminal operations efficiently.
  • Coordinate and schedule the terminal's operational labour force.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth day to day operations.
  • Monitor operational activity and respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ensure planning is completed accurately while meeting operational deadlines.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and effective manner.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within shipping, logistics or operations planning.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • An awareness of commercial and financial considerations.
  • Experience using Terminal Operating Systems would be advantageous, but is not essential.
