SLR Recruitment are excited to be recruiting for a Business Improvement Manager to join the brand new Portsmouth City Centre Business Improvement District (BID). This is a genuinely unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of Portsmouth city centre. Working closely with local businesses, Portsmouth City Council and a range of key stakeholders, you'll lead projects that help create a safer, busier and more vibrant city centre while building strong relationships across the local community.
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Hours: Full Time, Monday - Friday
The Role: As the Business Improvement Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering the Portsmouth City Centre BID Business Plan and acting as the main point of contact for local levy-paying businesses. This is a varied, autonomous role where no two days will be the same, giving you the opportunity to influence positive change across the city.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the delivery of projects and initiatives outlined within the BID Business Plan
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses, Portsmouth City Council, Hampshire Police and other key stakeholders
- Acting as the main point of contact for approximately 288 levy-paying businesses
- Developing and delivering communication and promotional initiatives for Portsmouth city centre
- Identifying and securing additional funding through grants, sponsorships and external funding opportunities
- Managing project budgets, contractors and governance requirements
- Reporting on project performance and progress to the BID Board
- Supporting the planning and delivery of future BID renewal campaigns
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A confident communicator with excellent relationship-building skills
- Previous experience managing projects and coordinating multiple priorities
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience managing budgets or working with funding, grants or sponsorships would be highly advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organised, proactive and able to work independently
- Passionate about supporting local businesses and making a positive impact within Portsmouth
