Boat Builder – Fleet Services
Location: Wapping Marine Workshop, London Salary: £46,985 starting salary, rising to £49,670 Full-time | Permanent
SLR Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Boat Builder to join a specialist marine team based at Wapping Marine Workshop in London.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a unique fleet of operational vessels supporting the Metropolitan Police Marine Policing Unit.
You’ll be working on a wide variety of vessels, including RHIBs, Targa patrol vessels, jet-powered craft and other specialist marine assets, with no two days necessarily being the same.
The Role
- GRP repairs and structural reconstruction
- Vessel modifications and upgrades
- General boat building and maintenance
- Hull repairs and inspections
- Supporting vessel enhancement and fleet development projects
- Quality assurance inspections
- Assisting with sea trials and testing
- Working to relevant marine and safety standards
- Working as part of a close-knit specialist marine team
About You
We’re looking for someone with solid boat building / marine engineering experience who takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
- GRP / composite repairs
- Structural boat building and repairs
- Vessel maintenance and modifications
- Marine construction or outfitting
- Reading technical drawings
- Working with specialist marine tools and equipment
Most importantly, you’ll be practical, reliable and confident working as part of a team, with a genuine interest in marine engineering and boat building.

The basic salary will increase annually up to £49,670.
