Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Geotechnical Engineer to join our established Mining Advisory team, delivering high-profile projects across global mining operations. You will lead and support the delivery of geotechnical engineering projects across underground and open-pit mining environments, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Leading geotechnical investigations, assessments and design for underground and open-pit mining projects
  • Conducting rock mass characterisation and geotechnical data analysis (RQD, RMR, Q-system, GSI)
  • Performing slope stability analyses for open-pit mines and waste dumps
  • Developing ground support designs and excavation stability assessments
  • Undertaking numerical modelling using FEM, FDM or DEM software
  • Preparing high-quality technical reports, feasibility inputs and presentations
  • Providing technical assurance and peer review of geotechnical deliverables
  • Supporting client engagement, proposals and project scoping
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers
  • Managing project delivery, including budget, schedule and client communication

You will collaborate with colleagues across Environmental & Earth Sciences, Planning, ESIA and Engineering, along with Global Advisory, contributing to complex and impactful mining projects. There may also be opportunities for international work and travel.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in geotechnical engineering within the mining sector
  • Demonstrated experience across both underground and open-pit geotechnical design
  • Proficiency in numerical modelling software (e.g. Phase2/RS2, FLAC, UDEC, Slide)
  • Strong understanding of rock mechanics and geotechnical risk assessment
  • Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent technical reporting and communication skills
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent (desirable)
  • Willingness and ability to travel to site as required
