SLR has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior BIM Technician experienced in Autodesk Civil 3D to join our growing Engineering & Design service line .
You will be a key member of our BIM team, reporting to our BIM / CAD Manager, working collaboratively with engineering disciplines and the wider company to ensure that our technical drawing and 3D modelling requirements are met. This will involve helping to develop designs for power, infrastructure and built environment projects using Autodesk Civil 3D and Infraworks.

The role
Joining as part of our Engineering & Design team but potentially providing wider support across the global business; you\’ll have a fantastic opportunity to support our Engineering team to develop designs for power, infrastructure and built environment projects.
The successful Senior BIM Technician will be experienced in using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Vehicle Tracking. Experience in Infraworks is desired, but training can be provided.
Duties would include:
- Preparing Civil 3D earthworks & corridor models from engineer’s sketches
- Detailing earthwork quantities from civil 3d models
- Preparing 2D detail drawings suitable for client issue from engineer’s sketches
- Mentoring junior members of BIM team and checking their work
- Responsibility for document management and the issuing of drawings
- Supporting BIM / CAD Manager in maintaining CAD standards, best practice and processes for modelling, content creation and advanced digital developments
- Managing procurement of site data, such as stats searches and topographical survey
As part of a multidisciplinary global consultancy, you will have the opportunity to work across other sectors with SLR staff, in disciplines including the Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water and Environmental Specialist Services Groups. About you
Key skills and knowledge we’d like you to have:
- HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
- Strong Civil 3D background with experience in earthworks modelling & corridor modelling
- Strong understanding of civil engineering
- Vehicle tracking experience
- Infraworks experience
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650
- Familiarity with British Standards/Codes of Practice
- EngTech MICE (or working towards)
- Experience working in a Common Data Environment such as ProjectWise, BIM Collaborate, 4Projects, Aconex or similar
- Strong written communication skills – able to annotate changes in the description of works
