We are looking for a Project Hydrogeologist to join our vibrant London office. Your project work would include a mixture of water monitoring, hydrogeological site investigation, groundwater abstraction licences, hydrogeological risk assessments, and environmental impact assessments. With projects across the UK, you will have a varied workload and be responsible for delivering work for our clients across the minerals, waste management, renewables, property and infrastructure sectors.
As a Project Hydrogeologist, you will be joining a diverse team of hydrogeologists, providing a great opportunity to build your hydrogeological skills and knowledge, both on and off site. You will have outstanding opportunities to progress within SLR’s structured career framework.
The role involves:
- Technical delivery of a wide range of projects, including site works such as site walkover surveys, supervising borehole drilling, geological logging, well installation, hydrogeological testing, and groundwater/surface water level and quality monitoring programmes.
- Hydrogeological data interpretation and preparing geological and hydrogeological Conceptual Site Models.
- Assisting with the completion of hydrogeological assessments, including Hydrogeological Risk Assessments and Hydrogeological Impact Appraisals, which involve analysis of monitoring data, completion of hydrogeological calculations, groundwater modelling, and reporting.
- Contributing to the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) water chapters.
The nature of the role and the locations of our clients mean that there would be site work requiring you to be away from home for short periods. We prefer someone to be located in our London office but are willing to consider applicants for any of our existing UK offices. The role is full time, although flexible and hybrid working options are available, and part-time working arrangements would be considered.

What you will need:
- Relevant academic qualification(s) and membership in a UK/EU recognised organisation (or equivalent overseas organisation) such as the Geological Society.
- One to two years of hydrogeological experience gained in a consultancy or similar commercial environment post-graduation.
- Specialist technical skills acquired through your employment and training, such as water monitoring and hydrogeological site investigation, groundwater abstraction licences, hydrogeological risk assessments, and environmental impact assessments.
