Following a number of recent significant contract wins in the Power Sector, SLR has opportunities for either Principal or Associate level Project Managers to join us across any of our English, Scottish or Welsh offices. Applications are welcome from Environmental Impact Assessment and/or Planning experienced candidates.
The role involves joining the Planning and ESIA team which employs over 100 planning and EIA professionals supporting projects across the Power, Mining, Waste Management, Industry, Major Infrastructure and Built Environment sectors. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced individuals to lead complex consent applications for major projects across the UK and Ireland for some of our major clients, particularly in the power sector.
Your responsibilities will be varied, but you will have the opportunity to:
- Manage a range of complex planning & EIA and non-EIA consent applications taking them from initial inception through to consent and discharge of planning conditions. These may include Town and Country Planning Act, Planning Act, and Section 36 Electricity Act consent applications.
- Take Project Manager lead roles on power and infrastructure projects, including onshore wind farm applications.
- Coordinate a range of in-house and external technical specialists together with taking the lead on the preparation of a range of high-quality technical reports.
- Provide clients with quality advice, in particular on consenting strategies, to help secure their development objectives.
- Support business development initiatives including key technical support on multi-disciplinary proposals and tenders, attending client/prospective client meetings, and contribute to raising of SLR’s profile including contributing to the work of industry associations.
- Be a lead advisor on consenting and/or EIA practice and procedures for the Planning & ESIA team and our clients.
- Play an active role in the development of best practice project delivery methods and standards and contribute to the development of new and innovative services.
The role will involve short term travel across the UK and Ireland depending on client/project sites as required.
About you: You will be an experienced Project Manager in EIA and/or planning and have experience of leading consent applications, ideally within the Power or Infrastructure sectors. Credible and cooperative, you will have a broad skill set that allows you to lead multidisciplinary teams. Your strong interpersonal skills, coupled with your technical knowledge, will mean you can successfully engage and build trust with clients and stakeholder groups.
You will also have:
- Demonstrable client management capabilities and the ability to manage client relationships.
- Proven consultancy (or similar) experience building, managing, leading and contributing to complex multidisciplinary teams.
- Detailed knowledge of development consenting processes in one or more of the following countries: England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
- Experience of the power and infrastructure sectors.
