SLR have a fantastic new opportunity for an Apprentice to join our collaborative and growing Transport Engineering team.

The role

  • Your key duties will involve supporting new colleagues in the preparation of detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports on a variety of projects.
  • You will also have the opportunity to gain experience and take responsibility for project management, budgeting, producing bills of quantities, and costings.
  • Provide assurance that scheme designs comply with specification and agreed programme.
  • Work to ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements.
  • Alongside colleagues, ensure designs are assessed for environmental impacts.

About you

We are looking for an Apprentice to develop consulting experience around the design and management of the Section 278/38 process, as well as:

  • Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets.
  • Ability to engage with colleagues and build towards conducting effective negotiations with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of CAD and ability to learn Vehicle Tracking, PDS Sign design and Civil 3D.

You will be enrolled onto Civil Engineering (Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship) | University of Salford and therefore you must meet Salford's entry requirements of 104 - 112 points including mathematics at grade C. A Pass in the practical element of science A levels must be achieved.
