Our Transport Modelling team are seeking an ambitious Principal Transport Modeller. The role is based in either Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh and offers flexible and hybrid working opportunities. We are a thriving modelling team and our goal is to offer specialist Transport Micro‑simulation support across the transport planning sectors. We work closely with our clients to provide a high‑quality modelling service, tailored to their needs and at exceptional value. The Role

  • Rigorously manage the full life cycle of small to medium sized transport modelling projects to required objectives, ensuring that work is of an exceptional quality.
  • Provide clear technical guidance in S-Paramics modelling and appraisal to clients and colleagues.
  • Prepare concise, well‑written notes and reports detailing and justifying work done, analysis and recommendations.
  • Provide day to day support and guidance to less experienced team members and make a tangible contribution to their professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to larger project delivery.
  • Attend technical meetings with clients, client teams and public authorities as required.
  • In due course, contribute to the identification of commercial opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to respond appropriately to secure new clients and assignments.

About You

If you’re interested in applying, we’d love to hear from you. Alongside relevant transport modelling experience, ideally gained with a commercially focused consultancy, we envisage you’d possess:

  • Sound understanding of UK transport planning policies and guidance.
  • First‑class technical skill set with significant experience in the use of micro simulation models, specifically S‑Paramics (exposure to other transport modelling packages such as VISSIM is highly desirable).
  • Prior experience of using Micro‑sim add‑ons (e.g. Vis‑VAP, COM interface, PC‑MOVA, ATM Controller) and GIS software is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in relevant transport modelling experience, ideally gained with a commercially focused consultancy.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and managing more junior colleagues.
  • Deeply analytical, numerate problem solver, able to work accurately, with significant attention to detail to identify solutions and risks.
