With support from senior colleagues, you will contribute to a range of mine water related activities including:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of site investigations including soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling in mine‑affected environments
  • Commission geochemical analysis and interpret the resulting laboratory data

  • Contribute to data management, validation, and visualization
  • Liaise with project teams, clients, and subcontractors as required
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations

The nature of the role and the sites worked on mean that there may be occasional site work away from home for short periods.

To be successful, we would envisage that you would be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in Geochemistry, Environmental Science, Geology or a related discipline with a significant geochemical component or modules
  • A relevant undergraduate or postgraduate thesis or major project that includes elements of geochemistry, aqueous chemistry, mineral‑water interaction or environmental systems
  • Preference for a candidate who has completed a relevant thesis that includes a proportion of environmental or geochemistry – desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrable understanding of geochemical processes relevant to mine water – desirable but not essential
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Office packages and GIS). Knowledge of geochemical modelling software is desirable but not essential as training will be provided
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one)
  • Flexibility and willingness for occasional project‑related travel – UK & international

If you are interested in applying and you have a full UK driving licence, we would love to hear from you.
