An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated geospatial professional with a genuine passion for CAD, BIM and data management to join their growing Geospatial & Data Solutions (GDS) team. This Edinburgh based role offers an opportunity to learn and develop as part of a busy and collaborative European team. SLR’s GDS team provides expert support and advice on GIS, geospatial data analysis and bespoke digital tools development across the full range of technical disciplines offered by SLR. They work on multidisciplinary projects alongside other technical disciplines as well as standalone GDS projects for a range of external clients. Projects are primarily located throughout Europe but with an ever-growing focus on more widely spread international opportunities.

The role will include:

  • Preparation of plan and detail drawings from engineering sketches
  • Preparation of vehicle tracking analysis
  • Data management of incoming & outgoing information
  • Developing a career pathway in Civil 3D modelling
  • Supporting senior members of the team in production of Civil 3D modelling
  • Supporting CAD / BIM Strategic Lead in maintaining and promoting CAD standards, best practice and processes
  • Managing procurement of site data, such as stats searches, topographical surveys and OS data
  • Working alongside GIS colleagues to share project information and ensure its accuracy
  • Working collaboratively across ArcGIS Online and the Autodesk Construction Cloud to ensure projects use data from a single source of truth
  • Supporting onsite surveying works
  • Working with the rest of the team to deliver projects to tight deadlines and budgets
  • Adhering to QA process and standard for data management and drawing outputs
  • Contribution to the smooth operation of the CAD / BIM team through active participation in team resource calls, supervision systems and knowledge sharing

About you: Conscientious worker with the ability to deliver to a consistent high standard with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and build strong relationships throughout the business. Good organisational skills with a proven ability to work to deadlines. Strong interest in developing BIM knowledge & Civil 3D / Revit modelling skills. Interest in engineering and sustainability. Previous knowledge and experience of AutoCAD and Autodesk products. Strong written communication skills. Ability to follow directions. Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.). HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering (or other relevant field) or HNC (or equivalent) in Computer Aided Drafting & Design. Excellent communicator within a team environment. Ability to work accurately under pressure. Strong team player. Ability to self-check own work. Good problem-solving skills. Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask. Keen to seek and undertake independent training to enhance career.

Desirable but not essential: Any work experience within a commercial environmental consultancy. Vehicle tracking experience. Good understanding of global coordinate systems and projections. Experience producing high quality drawing outputs. Other CAD / BIM training / work experience.
