We are pleased to be offering a great opportunity to work in the leading Mineral Processing Testing Facility in Europe. SLR Consulting are looking to hire an Assistant Laboratory Analyst as part of their Analytical Team. The individual would be involved in assisting the preparation of test work and ore samples for elemental analysis in the Analytical Laboratory. This is a full-time position working primarily between 08:30 - 16:30 subject to work requirements. Please note that the laboratory location (Wheal Jane Earth Science Park, Baldhu, Truro, TR3 6EE) is not easily accessible by public transport and therefore the commute needs to be seriously considered when applying.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Entering sample data into the laboratory sample tracking system in accordance with standard procedures
  • Supporting the analytical chemists with sample preparation, preparation of laboratory reagents and solutions etc as and when required
  • Maintaining QA/QC databases
  • Complying with standard analytical procedures
  • Maintaining, calibrating and cleaning equipment as appropriate
  • Working in a methodical manner quickly and efficiently
  • Assisting with general tidying of the laboratory
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering chemicals
  • Disposing of chemicals and waste products safely
  • Working in a safe manner, abiding by company SSOW and COSHH regulations at all times

A Successful Candidate Will Require

  • Good team working and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time to maximise productivity
  • Ability to quickly and accurately conduct required quality control tests
  • Safe and responsible working manner in laboratory areas
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of recording information
  • Awareness of commercial importance of products and ability to plan and prioritise work accordingly
  • Qualified to a minimum of GCSE standard in English and Maths
  • Experience of similar work is an advantage but not essential as training will be given
