We have a great opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Consultant based in our Bolton office. This is a hybrid role working between home and office. The Bolton office is in Horwich, close to Middlebrook Retail Park and has good links to the motorway and is close to Horwich Parkway train station.
The Land Quality and Remediation team undertakes a broad and diverse range of geo-environmental, geological, and geotechnical projects across all SLR’s key sectors. The position offered forms part of the continued expansion of the Bolton team due to a strong pipeline of exciting projects and comes with an excellent opportunity for career progression.
The roleThe successful candidate shall be responsible for assisting with the delivery of projects to a high standard, mentoring Graduates, and supporting the continuous development of the team. This key role requires close collaboration with the senior members of the team and with technical specialists in other disciplines. The role includes but is not limited to:
- Managing all aspects of geo-environmental fieldwork;
- Carrying out desk-based assessments;
- Organising site investigation/laboratory testing services in advance of field works;
- Developing health and safety plans to cover identified work tasks;
- Site Investigation management and supervision;
- Logging soil and rock samples;
- Arranging laboratory analysis of soil and rock samples;
- Data collation, manipulation and assessment;
- Reporting of investigations and assessments.

About you- BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Science or similar. MSc advantageous but not essential;
- Ideally, you should have at least three years relevant experience in a Geo-Environmental role;
- Soil/Rock logging to BS5930;
- Knowledge of relevant UK contaminated land and relevant planning legislation and guidelines;
- Experience of supervising and managing Geo-Environmental site investigations;
- Experience of land contamination assessment – soil, water and ground gas;
- Experience in contributing to remedial strategies and validation reports – commensurate with the role and experience;
- Good communication, report writing and data analysis skills;
- The ability to work as part of a team and follow strict Health & Safety protocols;
- A desire to build a successful career in the geo-environmental sector;
- Full UK driving license.
