SLR’s mission is to make sustainability happen. Our Process Engineering team is expanding to support a growing interest in energy transition technical solutions. The Senior Process Engineer – Energy Transition will lead and support the origination, development and delivery of projects such as sustainable fuels, hydrogen, carbon capture and utilization, with exposure to Energy from Waste, wastewater, recycling and circular economy projects across the UK and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the origination, development and delivery of energy transition projects from concept to commissioning.
- Originating and managing projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Prepare concept designs, feasibility studies and technical assessments.
- Review third‑party designs, proposals and operational models; prepare technical due diligence reports for funders.
- Prepare technical and procurement documentation, schematics and drawings; support contract management during construction.
- Assist with modelling to determine plant energy and mass balances, emissions, thermodynamic calculations and basic financial metrics.
- Conduct site inspections, witnessing, verification and supervision during construction, commissioning and testing.
- Troubleshoot operational plant issues.
- Develop client relationships, attend conferences and prepare proposals to win new work.
- Support other SLR teams with technical and process engineering expertise across diverse sustainability‑focused projects.

About You
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in Energy from Waste, thermal processing and carbon capture sectors.
- Experience managing technical projects, ideally including construction, operations or consultancy roles.
- Strong numeracy and confidence with data, modelling and analysis.
- Excellent report writing skills and proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills with a friendly, logical and organised approach.
- A full driving licence valid in the UK.
- Desirable: Master’s degree, Chartered Engineer status.
