Role Overview

Principal/Technical Director to join SLR's Acoustics and Vibration team with a lead role in the continued growth and development of this part of the business. Responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of clients and projects, overseeing the technical team and delivering projects across a range of sectors including renewable energy, built environment, education, mining, quarrying and waste.

Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership and project delivery across on‐shore and off‐shore wind, solar farms, battery storage, highways, rail, residential, commercial and mixed‐use developments.
  • Lead, prepare and review EIAs, ESs, Noise & Vibration chapters.
  • Serve as technical author and reviewer for complex assessments.
  • Oversee baseline survey design, modelling methodologies, impact assessment and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Act as Noise and Vibration lead or technical authority on DCO and NSIP projects for applications, appeals, examinations and public representations.
  • Provide expert witness and advocacy across appeals, enquiries and the preparation of expert reports.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Noise & Vibration Consultant with a strong track record of delivering high‐quality technical advice across major infrastructure, development and environmental projects.
  • Member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA).
  • Extensive experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams, setting technical direction and maintaining rigorous quality standards.
  • Strong commercial awareness, work‐winning ability and demonstrated success in securing new and repeat business.
  • Deep knowledge of UK noise and vibration standards, guidance and planning policy.

  • Proven experience in wind farm acoustics and NSIP/DCO regimes.
  • Expert witness capability with strong written and verbal advocacy skills.
