Responsibilities

  • Planning feasibility, outline and detailed designs for major highways and infrastructure projects.
  • Overall project and programme management.
  • Development and preparation of technical specifications.
  • Preparation of tender packages and tender evaluation.
  • Commercial support throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Act as a project manager to manage the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, manage proposal development, undertake business development initiatives, and provide hands-on design input.
  • Provide workload to others in the team and other disciplines, mentor and coach early-career engineers, and support sector and client leads.
  • Provide input into strategic direction, planning and development, creating new opportunities and prospects, enhancing and broadening team capacity and capability, recruiting new staff, identifying target markets and developing future strategies.
  • Work across other sectors with SLR staff in disciplines including advisory, environmental management and compliance, land and water and environmental specialist services groups.
  • Travel across Europe and engage in internal business development in a consultancy environment.

Qualifications

  • A solid track record managing projects and teams, working in the UK on highways and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven business development capabilities and the ability to manage high-level client relationships and to win and deliver new work through both existing and new client contacts.
  • Strong leadership, project management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in managing, mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of UK engineering guidance, including hydraulic design standards and processes.
  • Experience working on hydraulic feasibility studies, detailed drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and SC104 detailed design.
  • Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers or similar.
  • Must have a full, current driving licence valid in the UK.
  • Procurement and specification writing.
