Responsibilities
- Planning feasibility, outline and detailed designs for major highways and infrastructure projects.
- Overall project and programme management.
- Development and preparation of technical specifications.
- Preparation of tender packages and tender evaluation.
- Commercial support throughout the lifecycle of a project.
- Act as a project manager to manage the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, manage proposal development, undertake business development initiatives, and provide hands-on design input.
- Provide workload to others in the team and other disciplines, mentor and coach early-career engineers, and support sector and client leads.
- Provide input into strategic direction, planning and development, creating new opportunities and prospects, enhancing and broadening team capacity and capability, recruiting new staff, identifying target markets and developing future strategies.
- Work across other sectors with SLR staff in disciplines including advisory, environmental management and compliance, land and water and environmental specialist services groups.
- Travel across Europe and engage in internal business development in a consultancy environment.
Qualifications
- A solid track record managing projects and teams, working in the UK on highways and infrastructure projects.
- Proven business development capabilities and the ability to manage high-level client relationships and to win and deliver new work through both existing and new client contacts.
- Strong leadership, project management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in managing, mentoring and coaching staff.
- Demonstrable knowledge of UK engineering guidance, including hydraulic design standards and processes.
- Experience working on hydraulic feasibility studies, detailed drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and SC104 detailed design.
- Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers or similar.
- Must have a full, current driving licence valid in the UK.
- Procurement and specification writing.
