We are looking for mine water professionals to join our busy Mine Water Group and support an expanding pipeline of work in the mining sector. This position provides an exciting opportunity to join SLR's multi-disciplinary service offering which includes mining engineers, geologists, tailings engineers, geotechnical engineers, ESG practitioners, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and geochemists. You will have the opportunity to work with an established team of senior mining consultants. You may be based in any of our existing European offices; preferred locations include London, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Nottingham, and Dublin.
Responsibilities
- Support the provision of hydrogeological input to local and international mining studies, including pre-feasibility & feasibility studies (PFS/FS), due diligence/independent assessments, environmental & social impact assessments (ESIA), site investigations and closure planning.
- Support all aspects of project delivery, including tracking progress against budgets and providing quality deliverables.
- Manage tasks and limited projects within your specialist area, communicate with internal teams and clients, and support discussion with external clients.
- Support workload provision to others in the team, particularly early careers, and coach staff as required.
- Maintain and grow technical knowledge, support technical innovation, and understand technical guidance and legislation impacting water management in the mining and minerals sector.
- Provide hydrogeological input to other subsurface technical studies, including environmental and engineering subject matter.
- Project work may involve travel across the UK, Europe and internationally; you may work on projects with colleagues based in other offices throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Americas.
- Maintain a full, current driving licence valid in the UK.
Qualifications
- Relevant academic qualification(s), and be working toward (or already registered) as a Chartered specialist through a UK/EU recognised organisation (or equivalent overseas organisation).
- Demonstrable experience contributing to the delivery of a range of technical studies through phases of projects.
- Technical experience and understanding of water management gained in industry-relevant projects.
- Communication skills and experience reporting and communicating technical studies and findings.
Knowledge
- Your knowledge will include:
- Practical physical hydrogeology within engineering and resource sectors
- Investigation and characterisation
- Conceptual site model development
- Water management
- It would also be advantageous to have knowledge of several of the following:
- Mining and minerals sector
- Dewatering and depressurisation
- Hydraulic testing and analysis
- Groundwater modelling
- Environmental & social impact assessments
- Data management
- GIS and/or CAD skills
