We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Structural CAD Designer to support the CAD team in the design of foundations for offshore wind structures. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and specialists, creating innovative designs that contribute directly to the design of offshore wind farms.

As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will produce 2D drawings and 3D models for offshore wind foundation structures using AutoCAD and Autodesk Advance Steel. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise while working on projects from early-stage tenders through to detailed design.

Working closely with engineers and other designers, you will help ensure that designs are accurate, practical and delivered to the highest quality standards. You’ll take ownership of defined work packages and contribute to project success. You will also produce MTOs and other documents required by the engineering department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Autodesk Advance Steel in accordance with relevant design standards and codes, including client-specific requirements and with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills and be able to develop relationships with engineers. The role offers a competitive salary range from £37,700 to £48,500 per annum, depending on experience. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce 3D models from engineering inputs, using AutoCAD and Autodesk Advance Steel. Training can be provided in Advance Steel if required.
  • Produce accurate, clearly presented 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Produce accurate MTOs.
  • Take responsibility for small packages of drawings.
  • Work to relevant standards, design codes and client requirements.
  • Work closely across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support CAD requirements across teams.
  • Develop relationships with engineers, meet project needs and work towards deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • HNC, HND or degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or a T Level qualification in a suitable engineering, design subject or suitable work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant steel design draughting experience, ideally in offshore structures, although structural and mechanical experience will be considered.
  • A basic knowledge of welding symbols is desirable.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Advance Steel is desirable; training can be provided.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to an intermediate level.

Additional Information:

This role will be based in either London or Bristol. SLPE currently operates on a hybrid working basis, with staff typically expected to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week. For a Bristol-based candidate, regular travel to SLPE’s main office in central London will be required, for which expenses will be reimbursed.
