We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader to manage one of our Child Exploitation and Edge of Care teams. This service delivers a wraparound, relational approach to supporting vulnerable young people, focusing on child sexual and criminal exploitation, children missing from home or care, and those at risk of entering care. The aim is to reduce risks outside the home, address extra‑familial harm, and support young people to remain safely within their families and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and coordinate a specialist team delivering high‑quality, risk‑led and evidence‑informed interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with Thames Valley Police, Social Care, Education and a wide range of partners to prevent and disrupt harm and ensure a strong, collaborative multi‑agency response.
  • Shape and embed a new Edge of Care offer, ensuring alignment with the wider vision and principles of Slough Children First.
  • Oversee safeguarding practice, manage risk and ensure timely allocation and progression of cases.
  • Supervise and support staff, maintaining high professional standards, and promote a positive and resilient team culture.
  • Provide staff with the training and development needed to respond to emerging risks and deliver impactful interventions.
  • Strengthen contextual safeguarding practice across Children’s Services, provide expert advice to professionals and support effective multi‑agency responses to exploitation, missing episodes and harm outside the home.
  • Chair multi‑agency panels, oversee high‑quality assessments and safety planning, ensuring the voices of children, young people and families shape service development.
  • Run performance management, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities, including data analysis, monitoring outcomes and producing reports for senior leaders.
  • Identify local needs and strengthen the collective response to safeguarding risks through partnership and intelligence sharing.
