As part of the ongoing transformation of our Public Health service, we are recruiting to three new Principal Public Health posts to help lead delivery of our priorities and improve outcomes for residents.

These are senior strategic roles, reporting to the Consultant in Public Health and working across the Council, NHS, voluntary and community sector, and wider system partnerships.

You will provide public health leadership, programme oversight, commissioning expertise and specialist advice to influence decision-making, reduce inequalities and improve health outcomes.

If interested, please indicate your preferred portfolio in the supporting statement

We are recruiting to three portfolios:

1. Public Health Principal - Health Improvement

Lead programmes that support prevention and healthy ageing across the life course, including cardiovascular disease prevention, NHS Health Checks, screening and immunisation, women's health, and children and young people's health. You will work with partners to strengthen prevention, improve healthy life expectancy and drive evidence-based service improvement.

2. Public Health Principal - Inclusion Health

Lead our inclusion health portfolio, including substance misuse, public mental health, suicide prevention, sexual health and gambling-related harms. You will help shape services and partnerships that support residents experiencing exclusion, multiple disadvantage and the poorest health outcomes, ensuring services are accessible, person-centred and trauma-informed.

3. Public Health Principal - Health Intelligence

Lead the development and use of public health intelligence to inform evidence-based decision-making across the Council and wider system. You will oversee the JSNA, health intelligence, research and evaluation, behavioural insights, community-led research and asset-based community development.
