What You’ll Be Doing
Are you a highly organised, politically aware and confident support professional who thrives at the heart of a busy, high‑profile environment? This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Slough Borough Council’s Leader, Cabinet Members and councillors as they deliver services and priorities for local residents. As our Leader and Cabinet Support Officer, you will provide high‑quality administrative, diary, correspondence and casework support, helping elected Members work effectively, stay informed and engage confidently with colleagues, partners and the community.
You will be part of a fast‑paced Democratic Services environment where discretion, judgment, attention to detail and excellent relationship‑building skills are essential. You will manage correspondence and telephone enquiries, coordinate diaries, support meetings and events, prepare briefings and undertake apolitical research. Working closely with councillors and officers across the Council, you will need to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and manage competing priorities with accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
Knowledge of local government structures and decision‑making processes would be helpful, but what matters most is your ability to stay organised, communicate clearly, use sound judgment and provide calm, proactive support in a role where no two days are the same.
