What you’ll be doing:

Our HR, Workforce and Transformation team are looking to recruit a HR Business Partner who will play a pivotal role in driving the success of the Council’s strategic objectives by embedding effective people practices into its structures, processes, policies, and behaviours. The role contributes to the delivery of the workforce strategy, organisational and directorate people strategies, and the implementation of key strategic initiatives by leveraging broad HR expertise.

Collaborating with managers, teams, and Directorates across the organisation, the Business Partner provides expert advice and contextual insights to maximise impact and deliver outcomes aligned with the overarching organisational strategy and workforce strategy. A critical aspect of this role is leading organisational change projects, coaching managers, and leaders to build their skills, confidence, and effectiveness in managing teams, and handling complex employment cases to strengthen leadership capability. Additionally, the role supports professional development within people teams by managing escalated ER cases, facilitating knowledge transfer, and promoting continuous improvement in people practices.

Working closely with Strategic OD Partner, you will build strong relationships and take ownership of delivering people-focused initiatives that align with Strategic Workforce Planning priorities. By ensuring functional activities contribute to organisational and strategic goals, you will deliver tangible benefits for employees, the organisation, service users, and residents. This role requires showcasing exceptional project management expertise and demonstrating a high level of professional proficiency.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your Director.
