Sloan Medical Practice are offering and exciting opportunity for anenthusiastic practice nurse to join our practice team. The position has becomeavailable following the practice deciding to expand the nursing team. We areoffering a permanent, part-time position for up to 25 hours.
Sloan Medical Centre is a well-established, four partner PMS (PersonalMedical Services) training practice that provides high-quality, patient-focusedcare supported by a wider team.
We are an 14,000 plus patient practice, high QOF achievers, supportiveand collaborative working environment, excellent nursing, management, andadministrative support, active in the teaching and supervision of Medical Studentsand Registrars.
We use System One clinical system and accurx totaltriage
Salary: Dependant on experience

Main duties of the job
The role needs to be worked flexibly in line with the practice openinghours
Will work collaboratively within the general practice team to meet theneeds of patients, support the delivery of the Quality & Outcomes Framework(QoF) and any other performance monitoring systems.
About us
Our nursing team includes 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, a Student Nurse, 2 HCAs and a Phlebotomist. The expansion of the nursing team will enable them to take responsibility of our womans health service we currently offer our patients.
Job responsibilities
Assist in and perform routine tasks relating to patient care. Undertakeand promote cervical cytology. Provide a comprehensive family planning serviceand sexual health service. Undertake Spirometry and have undertaken relevanttraining. Manage newly diagnosed patients with Asthma, COPD & Diabetes.
Undertake Chronic diseasemanagement and prevention Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism,IHD, Stroke, LD.
Perform wound care using aseptictechnique and general wound care.
Undertake opportunisticscreening of BP checks, height, weight, BMI, urinalysis, glucose monitoring andsmoking status.
Administer injections under anindividual prescription or patient group direction
Offer a holistic approach totravel health including comprehensive advice for patients prior to travel.
Competent in anaphylaxis andresuscitation techniques.
Child Health and ChildProtection, including immunisations.
Promote health and well-being,through the use of health promotion, health education, screening andtherapeutic communication skills.
Refer and use social prescribingteams.
To undertake home visits.
To clearly communicate thehealth status of the patient using appropriate terminology, technology andformat.
INR monitoring if agreed by ashared care protocol.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Nursing & Midwifery NMC Registered
- Qualified to undertake Cytology
Experience
- Experience of working as a Practice Nurse
- Previously worked in a General Practice setting undertaking long terms conditions i.e Diabetes, COPD, Asthma etc
