NDT Level 2 Inspector in Kirkbymoorside

Role Description

The NDT Level 2 Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Kirkbymoorside. This role is responsible for performing non-destructive testing on composite aerospace and defense components using approved methods and procedures, ensuring product integrity and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day activities include planning and conducting inspections, interpreting and evaluating results, documenting findings, and raising non-conformance reports where needed. The Inspector will collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and corrective actions. Additional responsibilities include maintaining NDT equipment, following safety and quality standards, and supporting audits and certification activities as required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in NDT methods such as Eddy Current, with the ability to set up equipment, perform tests, and interpret indications accurately.
• Strong background in Ultrasonics and related inspection techniques for composite and metallic structures, including calibration and data evaluation.
• Experience in Inspection and Quality Control within aerospace, defense, or similar high-reliability manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of Corrosion mechanisms, detection methods, and their impact on component life and safety.
• Valid NDT Level 2 certification in relevant methods (e.g., EN ISO 9712, NAS 410, or equivalent) and familiarity with applicable standards and customer specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and inspection procedures, with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Relevant technical education or apprenticeship in engineering, materials, or aerospace disciplines; previous experience in composite manufacturing is beneficial.
