Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Composite Manufacturing Engineering role based in Kirkbymoorside.
The Composite Manufacturing Engineer will develop and optimize manufacturing processes for composite components, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Daily responsibilities include creating and updating work instructions, supporting production teams on the shop floor, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and implementing process improvements.
The role involves collaborating with design, quality, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability of new products, reviewing engineering drawings, and supporting build-to-print and design-for-manufacture activities.
The engineer will also contribute to training production staff on new processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with relevant aerospace and defense standards.
Qualifications Strong Manufacturing Engineering skills, including process development, tooling design, and production support for composite structures.
Experience in Manufacturing Operations and Manufacturing, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and safety in an industrial or aerospace environment.
Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing clear documentation and instructions.
Experience in Training production personnel on new processes, procedures, and best practices in composite manufacturing.
Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering.
Knowledge of composite materials, lay-up techniques, curing processes, and inspection methods.
Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and specifications; familiarity with CAD and MRP/ERP systems is beneficial.
Ability to work on-site in Kirkbymoorside, manage multiple projects, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
