You'll act as the principal client contact, leading your project team and collaborating with designers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll draw on multi-disciplinary expertise within SLC and from our partners, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
This is a role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys responsibility, and wants to make a tangible impact in the rail and infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects or a portfolio of smaller projects, ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
- Act as the main client contact throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining open communication and fostering strong, long-term relationships.
- Plan, manage, and monitor design, procurement, and construction stages in line with company procedures and industry standards.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks and opportunities, securing specialist input where required.
- Provide clear leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring alignment on objectives, progress, and safety.
- Ensure all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements are fully integrated into project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks, including CDM Regulations and HMRI requirements.
- Manage project change control and financial reporting processes, including invoicing and cost reviews.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers and other technical specialists to ensure design and delivery align with client requirements.
- Review and approve key safety and construction documentation (e.g. Construction Phase Plans, Work Package Plans) prior to commencement of works, and monitor compliance during delivery.
- Oversee project close-out, including formal handover, entry into service, and preparation of Health & Safety files.
- Contribute to wider business activities including fee estimates, resource planning, risk management, site inspections, and tender support.
- Be responsible for leading and coordinating a project team that includes an Assistant Project Manager, Commercial Manager, Construction Manager, and Field Engineers, providing clear direction, motivation, and development support.
