Work Schedule: Primarily office-based (90%) with occasional travel to well sites as needed.
Job Summary: We are seeking a P&A Engineer to join our Center of Excellence (CoE) in Aberdeen, UK. These roles are critical to supporting SLB’s growing Plug & Abandonment (P&A) operations by providing technical expertise in well design, planning, and execution. As part of the CoE, you will work closely with the P&A Engineering Manager, technical teams, and external stakeholders to design and execute P&A projects.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the P&A Engineering Manager in early customer engagements and technical discussions.
- Conduct subsurface and well studies to design and plan P&A operations.
- Leverage digital and lean processes to optimize workflows and solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including SLB’s Product Engineering Teams (PETs).
- Evaluate risks, costs, and regulatory compliance for P&A designs and proposals.
- Perform fast screening of wells and develop detailed P&A designs and plans.
- Support local teams in responding to RFIs and tenders, including material and cost evaluations.
- Assess third-party and partner capabilities to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Provide technical support during project execution, including occasional well site visits.
- Drive continuous improvement by proposing process enhancements and lessons learned.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in P&A operations or well intervention, with multi-project exposure.
- Advanced understanding of well design, P&A processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and risk assessment capabilities.
- Disciplined and proactive in developing and following processes.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to well sites for technical support.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in well engineering, completions, or interventions.
- Familiarity with SLB’s integrated P&A workflows and digital tools.
- Experience working with operators, service providers, or well management companies.
