We are a global technology company, driving energy innovation for a balanced planet. At SLB we create new technology that unlocks access to energy for the benefit of all. We are facing the world’s greatest balancing act- how to simultaneously reduce emissions and meet the world’s growing energy demands. Our collective future depends on decarbonizing the fossil fuel industry, while innovating a new energy landscape. It’s what drives us. Ensuring progress for people and the planet, on the journey to net zero and beyond.
The Data & Infrastructure Engineer Intern supports the team in maintaining and provisioning remotely accessed VDI’s for use in VDRs (Virtual Data Rooms) and hosted application platforms (SaaS). Part of this responsibility will also include controlling access to very specific data areas without ever exposing one client’s data to another client. The candidate is only expected to follow already established and clearly documented procedures to achieve this. You will also be expected to take an existing VM image and create new ones with specific application sets installed, which may mean obtaining copies of the software, guides on the installation and configuration of the applications, and setting up the licenses for it. Another part of this duty would be taking an active role in data stewardship, which is to track client data making sure it is correctly segregated, named, and stored correctly at all times while in SLB hands, as well as ensuring that all data and backups of the data are removed at the end of a project in accordance with both SLB standards and signed agreements with the clients who own the data.
As with every well-established team, sometimes we are stuck in a “this is the way we have always done it” mindset, so a successful candidate will be encouraged to freely express their ideas if they see possible improvements in the established way of working.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage and maintain mainly Windows based servers and VDIs
- Use and maintain VMware clusters
- Support data ingestion and storage processes across different data sources

- Assist in deploying SLB and in some cases 3rd party applications on VDI’s
- Helping clients get started on accessing and using hosted solutions
- Contribute to documentation, reporting, and process improvement activities
- Participate in team meetings, technical discussions, and ongoing learning activities
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of data structures, databases, and data processing concepts
- Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, or similar)
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Understanding of VMware, vSphere, and Windows server management
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
