Job Summary: The Data & Infrastructure Engineer Intern supports the team in maintaining and provisioning remotely accessed VDI’s for use in VDRs (Virtual Data Rooms) and hosted application platforms (SaaS). Responsibilities include controlling access to specific data areas without exposing one client’s data to another, creating new VM images with specific application sets installed, and tracking client data to ensure it is correctly segregated, named, and stored. All data and backups must be removed at the end of a project in accordance with SLB standards and signed agreements with clients.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage and maintain mainly Windows based servers and VDIs
- Use and maintain VMware clusters
- Support data ingestion and storage processes across different data sources
- Help with data migration, loading, backup, and retrieval tasks
- Assist in maintaining data storage infrastructure
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving basic technical issues in VMware systems and Windows
- Sourcing and updating licenses and license services
- Assist in deploying SLB and 3rd party applications on VDIs
- Helping clients get started on accessing and using hosted solutions
- Contribute to documentation, reporting, and process improvement activities
- Participate in team meetings, technical discussions, and ongoing learning activities
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of data structures, databases, and data processing concepts
- Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, or similar)
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Understanding of VMware, vSphere, and Windows server management
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Fluency in English
BlueFlex: We are open to flexible, hybrid working with a combination of on-site and at-home working days. Usually, these remote workdays are Wednesdays and Fridays.
