We are recruiting for a Resource Management Executive (RME) to join our growing Resource Management Practice.
In collaboration with partners and the wider Resource Management team, the RME will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of work allocation, helping to ensure lawyers are deployed efficiently and effectively across our dedicated practice areas. The focus will be on optimising utilisation while balancing experience, capacity, development goals, individual preferences and client requirements.
The role will support 3 practice groups: Competition, Disputes and Financing. While each group has it’s own distinct practice area and client demands, their resourcing models operate in a similar way, offering a varied and well-rounded resource management experience.
Key responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.
- Develop strong trusted relationships with partners, associates and trainees to foster collaboration and build a strong understanding of both practice group and individual resourcing needs.
- Manage the work allocation of junior lawyers, supporting their timely and effective deployment.
- Proactively identify potential resourcing risks, including capacity constraints or workload imbalances, and escalation concerns to the Resource Manager as appropriate.
- Support the Resource Managers in producing clear and regular reporting on utilisation, capacity and future resource requirements.
- Maintain group absence trackers and manage annual leave approvals for associates and trainees, ensuring accurate records.
- Contribute to workforce planning discussions, helping to align resourcing decisions with business needs, development objectives and client requirements.
Candidate profile
To be successful in this role, previous experience in an administrative, coordination or resource planning role would be advantageous. Ideally, this experience will be within the legal or professional services sector. In addition, we are looking for:
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills, building positive and effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting data and identifying trends and potential resourcing challenges.
- A confident, professional communication style, with excellent written and oral skills, demonstrating discretion, diplomacy and tact.
- Comfortable using AI-enabled tools to support day-to-day work, with the ability to apply sound judgement and critical thinking when interpreting outputs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and some knowledge of document management systems.
