We are looking for a Senior Health and Safety Manager to take overall responsibility for health and safety at the firm. The Senior Health and Safety Manager will define, develop and implement the firm’s health and safety strategy, providing an efficient and professional service. The post holder must be highly collaborative and lead and deliver a comprehensive health and safety service to the firm, ensuring a proactive, pragmatic and considered approach. This role will have a particular focus on the health and safety of our buildings and people. As part of the Facilities and Operations leadership team, the Senior Health and Safety Manager reports into the Head Of Facilities and Operations Compliance and is a key role to guide and advise the firm in both our London and Brussels offices. The Health and Safety team includes two managers with separate responsibilities for buildings and people, and an adviser. Take full ownership and responsibility for health and safety at the firm. Lead the continuous improvement of the firm’s health and safety policy and governance arrangements to ensure compliance with legislation, minimise risk and support the firm’s requirements. Be the firm’s health and safety expert and lead change in compliance when necessary. Work with the Head of Facilities and Operations Compliance to devise and deliver the Health and Safety strategy. Identify, lead on, plan and own strategies, implement policies and procedures. Horizon scan and identify trends and emergent health, safety and wellbeing issues. Compliance & Risk Management Establish a general safety management system and framework for auditing and monitoring (including fire safety, risk assessments, accident and incident reporting). Manage a regular audit programme of building and fire risk assessments and proactively respond to opportunities for improvement of health and safety arrangements. Ensure accidents and incidents are investigated, reported and reviewed as necessary, making recommendations where appropriate and filing any statutory reports (RIDDOR) with the authorities, including any subsequent liaison with HSE/local environmental health. Review policies and procedures for contractor management and ensure that procedures relating to all contractors comply with the requirements as laid down by the firm and health and safety legislation. Lead on the firm’s arrangements for physical health and safety. Work closely with HR and others to deliver a health and wellbeing strategy and plan, providing support and guiding colleagues. Support the Health and Safety Team with communication and consultation. Run or assist with firm wide campaigns and initiatives for the positive promotion of health, safety and wellbeing. Responsibility for the firm’s Health and Safety Committee and expert resources such as first aiders. Advisory, Projects & International Support Lead and support the team to manage projects and programmes that support health, safety and wellbeing including the implementation of policies, procedures, guidance and standards. Provide advice to general and specialist business areas to ensure health and safety standards are appropriately implemented and are sufficiently robust within their areas of control. Provide guidance, advice and support to the firm’s international offices to ensure compliance with local requirements and consistent standards. Support as required for projects including building refurbishment projects. Ensure the Health and Safety Team provide professional, efficient and effective support to all. Manage, motivate and develop the team to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of quality professional services. Encourage high performance using a flexible management style and a variety of people management tools, such as ongoing feedback, annual performance reviews and goal setting. Implement and support strategies to attract, develop and retain key talent. Work collaboratively with colleagues across Facilities and Operations and Business Services teams. Coordinate all management information and reporting, analyse performance trends and make recommendations for improvement. Encourage a team culture dedicated to excellent levels of quality and service. Build a network of peers across the wider Business Services teams. Review technology solutions to drive health and safety best practice and make recommendations. Ensure the Health and Safety Team provide professional, efficient and effective support to all. Manage, motivate and develop the team to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of quality professional services. Encourage high performance using a flexible management style and a variety of people management tools, such as ongoing feedback, annual performance reviews and goal setting.
