ROLE OVERVIEW //
We are recruiting for a Junior Billing Executive to join the Billing department, part of the wider Finance department, based in the firm’s London Head Office.
This is a permanent role. The Junior Billing Executive will contribute to delivering a first-class billing service to the firm, assist in implementing initiatives as we develop the billing function and ensuring that we maintain our high standards of service. The role will report to the Billing Operations Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //
The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.
The team are looking for someone to prepare and/or assist partners and fee earners in the preparation of bills to clients.
- To field enquiries sent from EAs and fee-earners.
- Answering EA and fee-earner requests.
- Allocating centrally received requests and escalating issues as required.
- Assist in the administration of running the billing function.
- General tasks associated with the preparation of bills- timesheet checking, client set-up, rates etc.
- Build up knowledge of and ability working with various billing processes and eBilling systems.
- Run reports and validate contained data, building knowledge of 3E to facilitate report construction.
- Work closely with the existing members of the Billing team.
- Effectively communicate and build relationships with internal clients including partners and other fee earning members of staff.
- An enthusiastic individual prepared to take a hands-on approach to learning about the Slaughter and May Billing function and how it contributes to the running of the firm.
CANDIDATE PROFILE //
Candidates for this position will benefit from some experience working within a professional or legal services environment but full training will be provided and a positive attitude, analytical and methodical approach and willingness to learn are the key attributes sought. Other attributes will include:
- Minimum grade C/5 or above in GCSE English and Maths
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (in particular, Excel and Word).
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, spoken and presentational), working well within a team.
- Numerate to a strong standard.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written, spoken and presentational.
- Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar.
- A willingness to provide feedback, share information and contribute ideas and suggestions as necessary.
- Active listening skills and demonstrates professionalism in all dealings
- A confident, proactive individual prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing their workload using their own initiative once given suitable guidance.
- Flexibility with hours is necessary when the work of the firm requires it.

- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
- Experience of working in a diverse team whilst fostering an inclusive team culture.
