We are recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team. This role is crucial in supporting the team through a high-intensity period, providing timely, accurate financial and management information to support key stakeholders and contribute to the firm’s overall financial integrity. The Financial Accountant will work closely with partners, managers, and stakeholders across the firm, playing a hands-on role in key accounting processes, including monthly reporting, year-end accounts, and audit preparation for our UK and international offices. This position requires a highly organised, proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and has an exceptional eye for detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the preparation of the monthly Board finance report, including analysis and commentary.
- Own month end processes for the Brussels office, including accruals, prepayments, salary postings, bank reconciliations, and journal reviews.
- Carry out monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with year-end accounts and audits for the Partnership and subsidiary entities.
- Assist with the preparation and review of overseas VAT returns, VAT sales listings, and VAT reconciliations.
- Act as the main finance contact for the Brussels office, including intercompany balances and local finance queries.
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable team to validate payment workflows, release payments via multiple banking platforms, and advise on appropriate expense and VAT treatment.
- Contribute to the annual budget process and provide financial analysis to stakeholders.
- Participate in finance projects, system improvements, and process enhancements.
- Provide hands on input and practical assistance to the Financial Controller and wider finance team.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Comfortable using AI-enabled tools to support day-to-day work, with the ability to apply sound judgement and critical thinking when interpreting outputs.
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
- Ability to build strong business relationships with internal clients and the resilience to deal with demanding individuals.
- A confident, proactive individual prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing their workload using their own initiative.
- Comfortable accepting instructions and guidance from different angles.
- Ability to work well in a team but comfortable working on own initiative.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and a good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office Packages (e.g. Word).
- Experience in using 3E accounting software (desirable).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written, spoken and presentational.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar.
- Demonstrates professionalism in all dealings.
- Experience of working in a diverse team whilst fostering an inclusive team culture.
- High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics.
