We are recruiting for an Early Careers Recruitment (“ECR”) Adviser to join the ECR Team. The ECR Team is part of the HR Department and the wider Business Services function based at the firm’s head office in London. Its purpose is to work alongside the ECR partners to attract and recruit those wishing to qualify as a solicitor, who will ensure the continuing success of the firm. The team consists of the Head of Recruitment, Senior Marketing Manager, Operations Manager, two Advisers, an Executive, two Assistants, and two Administrators. The successful candidate will report into the Operations Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shared responsibility for the design, development, organisation and running of the summer work experience (SWE) schemes.
  • Full responsibility for the organisation and running of the SWE interviews, including managing the interview coordination process and the shortlisting and offer process.
  • Full responsibility for the design, development, organisation and running of the virtual insight afternoons and spring open days.
  • Full responsibility for reviewing the feedback from the SWE schemes, virtual insight afternoons and spring open days each year, conducting ROI analysis, and making and implementing recommendations for change.
  • Applications
    • Full responsibility for managing the SWE vacancy on the online recruitment system, including reviewing all applications and managing the interview shortlisting process.
    • Shared responsibility for managing the training contract vacancies on the online recruitment system.
  • University relationship management and marketing
    • Working with the university relationship partners and Senior Marketing Manager to plan and deliver events/activities and society sponsorships at key target universities, and conducting ROI analysis to make and implement recommendations for change.
    • Full responsibility for allocated target universities, including arranging annual university-wide firm events and presentations, managing relationships with university societies, and maintaining and developing strong relationships with law schools and careers services throughout the academic year.
    • Attending university recruitment events, including giving presentations and attending evening events, and travel/overnight trips as required.
  • Recruitment events
    • Full responsibility for relationship management and event organisation with allocated external partner organisations, including attending all events and conducting ROI analysis, to ensure that activity is delivered in a consistent, high quality, and organised manner.
    • Representing the firm at ECR events throughout the year, including giving presentations and attending evening events, and travel/overnight trips as required.
  • Interviews
    • Shared responsibility for conducting short HR interviews as part of the training contract and solicitor apprenticeship programme (SAP) interview process throughout the year.
    • Obtaining interview feedback from the partners where necessary.
    • Providing unsuccessful interview candidates with feedback by telephone.
    • Speaking to candidates about any adjustments they require as part of the interview process.
    • Assisting with organising the weekly review meeting to discuss the training contract candidates, the training contract offer process, and future trainee pre-joining processes as required.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Responding to general ECR queries (both internal and external) by telephone and email.
    • Assisting with other tasks and projects to support the team as required.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE

    • Degree-educated or equivalent industry experience.
    • Previous experience of working in ECR attraction and selection in a law firm or other professional services environment.
    • Enthusiastic individual prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing their workload using their own initiative.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and build strong business relationships, both internally and externally and at all levels; approachable and able to build rapport quickly.
    • High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics.
    • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (in particular Word and Excel); previous experience of using an applicant tracking system (ATS) would also be beneficial.
