We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to join our team as a Business Development (BD) Executive focused on Europe. This role sits within the Global Client Development (GCD) team, working with Country and Practice partners on their strategic BD planning, initiatives and campaigns related to Europe. This is a cross-practice role and will include working on BD initiatives emanating from the firm’s Corporate, Financing, Disputes and Competition practices, amongst others. The GCD team sits within the wider Commercial team. This role is an opportunity to work across a broad range of projects, requiring versatility and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and relationships at one time.
The successful candidate will report directly to a Senior Manager in the GCD team as well as work with other team members as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESWorking across multiple jurisdictions and practice areas, the key responsibilities of this role will include the following:
- Provide high quality support on the full spectrum of BD activity in relation to multiple parts of Europe – from supporting on the formation and implementation of a targeted BD strategy through to delivery of specific campaigns and projects.
- Assist with shaping and organising flagship initiatives such as targeted relationship-driven events, bilateral meetings, roundtables, conferences, webinars and networking functions.
- Respond to international referral requests - researching the requirements, suggesting law firms and logging the outcome.
- Research, prepare and participate in external law firm relationship meetings, producing law firm profiles, concise meeting summaries and ensuring the follow-up is delivered.
- Coordinate overseas visits including the provision of briefing packs, law firm profiles and market analysis.
- Support the shaping of business plans, ensuring that these are focused and considered including data analysis, using both internal and external data sources.
- Work closely with the Senior BD Manager to prepare and attend Country Partner meetings, taking forward actions discussed.
- Support lawyers and BD colleagues to provide focus to new client acquisition initiatives including research, data gathering and analysis.
- Help with the preparation of credentials and other client-facing materials as well as assisting on pitches and client BD meetings in liaison with the Pitch team.
- Assist with the firm’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) Programme and bespoke client targeting initiatives to identify opportunities for the firm from a European through to global perspective.
- Maintain accurate data across our BD systems, including tracking trips, client development and law firm relationship activity.
- Work with the team to manage the client and target research process to ensure clear objectives are in place for each piece of research.
- Support the firm’s content strategy by providing assistance in the content creation and distribution processes.
- Support visiting lawyer initiatives including the Referendare programme and alumni events.
- Work across the GCD team to respond to ad hoc requests, while providing proactive support to the relevant practice and jurisdictional groups.
- Other general assistance as may be required.
Candidates for this position must have:
- Degree-educated or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, confidence to develop strong working relationships with fee earners and members of the BD team.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work.
- Previous BD and Marketing experience, most recently at an assistant or executive level in legal or professional services.
- Demonstrable confidence to develop strong working relationships with the partners, associates, PSLs and all members of the BD team.
- Ability to gather, manage and analyse large amounts of data, and identify BD opportunities within it.
- Ability to be proactive, entrepreneurial and self-motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, spoken and presentational).
- Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar.
- Proactive approach to defining needs and delivering solutions.
- Ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external clients and the resilience to deal with demanding individuals.
- Willingness to foster an inclusive team culture.
- High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics.
