We are seeking a technically adept Application Engineer to join our Business Systems team in the Technology department. You will be part of a cross-functional team of engineers who are responsible for the configuration, development, implementation, security and support of the firm’s business-critical applications. You will act as a technical product owner and subject matter expert for the firm’s Azure integrations. You will work with other applications, such as the Master Data Management system, as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Application Management and Development
- Manage the configuration, deployment and ongoing support of Azure integrations.
- Develop, test and optimise Azure integrations.
- Serve as one of the firm’s technical experts for Azure Integration Services.
- Assist with developing, testing and optimising enhancements to the MDM and other applications, as required.
- Monitor usage and performance, proactively addressing issues and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into practical application changes or enhancements.
- Maintain documentation related to application change control and configuration, processes and procedures.
- Technical Expertise and Product Ownership
- Serve as a primary subject matter expert (SME) for Azure Integration Services, providing deep knowledge and proactive support.
- Serve as a secondary subject matter expert for the MDM and other applications, as required.
- Own the technical direction of the applications you are responsible for, ensuring alignment with the Technology roadmap, business strategy and user needs.
- Stay informed of product updates, upgrades, and roadmap developments, ensuring optimal use of the software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating to third-line support or vendors where necessary.
- Maintain and prioritise the product backlog, including new features, upgrades, maintenance tasks and defect resolution.
- Participate in or lead agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate and approve technical design decisions, architectural changes and security implications.
- Stakeholder and Vendor Engagement
- Act as a primary liaison between internal users, procurement, support teams, engagement and software vendors for the applications you are responsible for.
- Engage regularly with application stakeholders and users to ensure they are informed of progress and change, and to monitor and improve user experience.
- Manage vendor relationships, including coordinating support cases, overseeing service levels, and negotiating enhancements or customisations.
- Work closely with the internal Problem Management team.
- Cybersecurity and Risk
- Ensure applications comply with internal and external security policies and best practices.
- Implement controls to safeguard application data, access, and integration points.
- Participate in audits, risk assessments, and business continuity planning as it relates to the applications you are responsible for.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Essential
- Expert knowledge of Azure Integration Services
- Strong experience developing Logic Apps, Function apps and custom Excel add-ins.
- Expert knowledge of C#, .NET and Blazor.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, training and documentation skills, including the ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team.
- Willingness to be flexible, learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Master Data Management solutions.
- Familiarity with other major systems the firm uses, including iManage products, Elite 3E, Workday and Carpe Diem.
- Familiarity with DevOps, Copilot and GitHub.
- Familiarity with legal sector compliance and IT security standards (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus).
- Experience in the legal sector or a similar highly regulated environment.
- Experience with agile or iterative delivery methodologies and velocity coding.
