Slalom is seeking a Senior Consultant in Responsible AI Governance to join our Privacy, Security, Ethics, Compliance and Responsible AI Governance capability. As organizations rapidly adopt AI technologies, there is an urgent need to ensure these systems are developed and deployed responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with emerging regulations. In this role you will guide clients in building AI systems that are safe, fair, accountable, and aligned with societal values while enabling innovation and business value.

What will you do?
- Establish AI governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that ensure AI systems are developed and deployed safely, ethically, and in compliance with emerging regulations including the EU AI Act.
- Design and implement Responsible AI governance operating models, including roles, responsibilities, decision rights, and oversight mechanisms for AI development and deployment using established frameworks such as NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF), ISO 42001, and industry-specific AI risk taxonomies.
- Develop AI ethics principles, guidelines, and decision-making frameworks tailored to clients’ organisational values and risk appetite.
- Work as part of a wider Privacy, Security, Ethics, and Compliance team to integrate AI governance with broader data governance, privacy, and security initiatives.
- Contribute to thought leadership through white papers, blog posts, presentations, and speaking engagements on responsible AI topics.
Requirements:
Regulatory and Framework Expertise
- Deep understanding of the EU AI Act including risk classification, conformity assessment requirements, and compliance obligations for high-risk AI systems.
- Experience implementing the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF), including the four core functions: Govern, Map, Measure, and Manage.
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 42001 (AI Management System) and experience supporting organisations in achieving alignment.
- Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 for LLMs and OWASP Machine Learning Security Top 10.
- Understanding of AI ethics frameworks and principles from leading organisations such as OECD AI Principles, IEEE Ethically Aligned Design, and the EU Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI.
Technical and Implementation Experience
- Conducted AI risk assessments, model validation, and algorithmic impact assessments across multiple use cases and industries.
- Implemented AI governance tools and platforms (e.g., model registries, monitoring solutions, bias detection tools, explainability platforms).
- Has contributed to the definition of AI governance standards, policies, and best practices within organisations or on consulting projects.
Leadership and Consulting Skills
- Provided solution oversight and mentoring to junior consultants and client teams on responsible AI practices.
- Facilitated workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns on responsible AI topics, translating complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance innovation enablement with risk management.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience analysing emerging AI regulations and trends and developing proactive compliance strategies.
- Understanding of the intersection between AI governance, data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and broader enterprise risk management.
- Demonstrated thought leadership in responsible AI through publication of articles, white papers, or blog posts on industry forums, and/or speaking engagements at conferences, webinars, or professional events.
- Certification or formal training in AI ethics, responsible AI, or related areas (e.g., Certified AI Governance Professional, ISACA AI Auditing certification) is highly desirable.
- Background in data science, AI/ML engineering, risk management, compliance, or related technical or governance disciplines in a consultancy setting.
